We concluded our Purim unit with a grand Purim Masquerade and a music and movement with Bobby Doowah.  Below you will view great photos of the various purim activities that  occurred in the classroom.

What's your favorite part of Purim?

Chanah :  "The Play"

Diana - "Princess and grape juice"

Perry - "Rice inside the bottle"

Jojo - "My buzz costume"

Sam - " My Buzz and Woody and Batman costume"

Isaac - "My pirate costume"

Chassie - "Purim"

Geffen - "Oznei Haman"

Chloe - "The face paint"

The children have been working on mastering the art of creating hamantashen with their homemade play dough.
The children use an instruction sheet and follow the three step directions to make their pretend hammantaschen.

There has been a lot of dress-up and pretend play going on, but we decided to bring a little twist to that.
Here, the children use dry erase markers and add costumes to their own laminated pictures.
A HUGE hit!

Sounds Experiment

We added corn, marbles, sea shells, pompoms and rice to multiple types of jars and containers to experiment the many different sounds the make. The friends took turns filling a glass jar with the items; then they predicted if it would make a loud or soft noise. Afterwards, the shook the jar, and decided if their predictions was accurate.
Besided noticing the difference in sound that the pompoms and marbles made,  they also notice that the sound would change depending on how empty or full the jar is.

OK. Gragger time!
The children were involved in the entire process of creating their graggars.
The Process:
Last week the children helped die the rice using vinegar and paint.
Using the rice along with corn, marbles, sea shells, and buttons, the children each did their own gragger experiment.
They had to decide which items to put into their graggers in order to create the desired sound for their graggar.

And then there was Shalach Manot packing!
To really teach the Mitzvah of sending shalach manot to a friend, the children each packed their own shalach manot and picked a name of a friend out of a pile, and gave their shalach manor to that particular friend. Each child had the opportunity to give and receive a shalach manor.

And finally Monday Celebrations:

Music with Bobby Doowah

Costumes!

A sneak peak of picture day!

The Morahs traced the children's bodies, and the children decorated their bodies with markers, pompoms, and buttons. During the activity we discussed personal body space, and how we have to respect our friends body space.
