This week we introduced the story of Pesach, and the children are excited to continue exploring the special holiday.
Many, many years ago before our parents, and grandparents, and even great grandparents were born the Jewish people lived in Mitzrayim. There was a King named Paroh, and he forced the Jewish people to work hard in the heat of the desert. They worked hard building pyramids, and worked all day and night with no rest. After we learned what a pyramid is, the children were challenged to build pyramids with plastic cups, which required focus and hard work. The children enjoyed the activity, and try to figure out ways to form a stable pyramid.
Song: Bang, bang, bang, bang your hammers low,
Bang, bang, bang give a heavy blow,
'Cause it's work, work, work, everyday, and every night,
'Cause it's work, work, work when it's dark and when it's light.
Dig, dig, dig, dig your shovel deep,
Dig, dig, dig, there's no time to sleep,
'Cause it's work, work, work, everyday, and every night,
'Cause it's work, work, work when it's dark and when it's light.
Build, build, build, build your pyramids tall,
Build, build, build, don't let them fall,
'Cause it's work, work, work, everyday, and every night,
'Cause it's work, work, work, when it's dark and when it's light.

Throughout the week, the children were given different materials to work with while building pyramids. This helped set the scene as the Pesach story begins to unfold.
Clay:
The children worked hard using clay building structures just like the Jewish people in Mitzrayim.
A Wonderful Surprise During Circle Time!
Every day during circle time we add some coins to the Tzedakah box to those people that are less fortunate than we are. One day this past week, when the children were putting money in the Tzedakah box, there was no noise, and the coins could not fit into the box. The Tzedakah box is full! So we called the Rabbi to our class, and Chloe asked him if he had an idea of who to give the money to. The Rabbi said he would give the money to a family to help them buy food for Pessach.
The chidlren were so proud.
Decorating our Pet, Pretzel's House:
The children are still very excited about Pretzel, and they feed him everyday, and think of new ideas how to make him comfortable in the classroom. The children decided to make his house more colorful, because they wanted him to feel happy in the classroom.
Noa Mofaz wrote PR on his house, as she began to write the first part of his name!
We had a pleasant surprise guests on Friday. A couple of fire fighters came to our class, and the children were super excited to sing to them our "Fire Truck" song, they asked them some questions and even got a chance to speak on their walkie-talkie.
Next week, as we continue to act out the Pesach story, we will begin to explore the fifteen steps of the Seder. These explorations will be documented through pictures that will later be turned into a
take-home Haggadah.
If you have any Pesach books at home, feel free to label them and share them with us!
