We had a busy week full of learning!
On Monday, at circle time, we introduced a scale. We saw how the side that goes down on the scale has the heavier item. Then we took different sizes apples and the children guessed which apple they think is the heaviest, and then checked it on the scale.

Jojo and Noa are trying to see how many small apples
will weigh the same as one big apple.
With apples all around us, the children began noticing that not all apples are the same. Not only are there different sizes, different colors and slightly different names, they also taste differently.
We had an apple tasting with a McIntosh, Granny Smith and Golden Delicious, and after tasting all of them and noticing how each taste a little different, we filled up a graph and each friend selected their name sticker to graph their favorite apple.
We counted the results together and most friends liked Granny Smith!
Snack time:
We went on a nature walk to experience what's different outside, now that it's Fall.
As soon as we started walking, Isaac pointed out : "I feel air in my hair, it's windy outside."
We noticed how the leaves are starting to change colors, and some leaves are falling on the floor.
We have a basket in our class for leaves that the children collect outside, and friends are welcome to bring leaves they see on the floor when walking to school to show their friends.
Fall colors collage:
Sensory table filled with rice.
With so many pumpkins in our center, Chloe started to wonder: What's inside the pumpkin? So at our circle time, we passed the pumpkin around and our friends were guessing what's inside. We then opened and explored the sticky seeds and brought them to our art center and sensory table to explore a little more.
Sam and Chana use glue and glitter to make a pumpkin seeds collage:
Fine motor skills: Isaac and Sara use plastic tweezers and spoons to scoop out some pumpkin seeds.
Interactive board to match the leaf with the tree it falls from.
