A peek at our week

The year started on a great note! With the holidays over, the children were all ready for the full week school experience.
Coming from Rosh Hashana and going into Fall, our theme this week was "All About Apples".
On Monday, at our circle time, we discussed where apples come from, and we got different answers such as: "from the supermarket", "from the fridge" and other opinions. We then opened an apple and saw a few little seeds and went to explore pictures of seeds on the soil and how they grow into apple trees.

Song with movements and some hebrew words:

"The little apple tree was lying on the ground,
The great big shemesh (sun) was shining all around,
Down came  the geshem (rain)
Dancing to and fro
And the little apple seed started to grow..."

On Tuesday, the friends were very happy when we announced that we would be going on a trip to the farm! We looked at pictures of farms and each friend predicted what they thought we would be seeing at the farm. We got some great and imaginative ideas!

The highlight of our week was going on the big yellow school bus to the farm! We enjoyed the company of our chaperones and the children were so excited to pick the apples straight from the tree and eat it. It was a beautiful day; We enjoyed the apple orchard and hay ride and lunch on the grass. Thank you to the Mommies, Nannies and Grandma who came along!

(Please see the next post for pictures of the trip.)
