We are so happy to be back in school after a wonderful Spring break! The children are sharing so much of what they did with their families over vacation.
This week, we began to introduce our Spring Unit.
This week, we began to introduce our Spring Unit.
To explore what spring has to offer, we took the children on our first nature walk of the season. They had the opportunity to seek out the all the outdoor details that make this time of year so special.
During the nature walk, the children pointed out all the blossoming flower buds and growing leaves.
We discussed the idea that seeds need rain and sunshine in order to start growing.
During our discussion we discovered how the cloud fills up with moisture and the moisture then turns into rain and falls to the ground…
We did an experiment with water and shaving cream and added drops of color on top of the shave cream then to watch carefully as the color made its way through the “cloud” and then dropped into our clear water down below…
Then it was time to let the children explore the process on their own.
To enhance their fine motor skills, the children were giving a sorting activity that includes matching the primary colored beads to the identical colored pipe-cleaner.
The children are enjoying the outdoors, and the many characteristics of spring. The children began digging, planting and recognizing the many insects that come out in the spring.
Our friend, Arieh, revealed to us that he saw a worm on his way to school. He asked the morahs, "can we go in our backyard to collect some worms for our classroom?" With our pails and shovels, we all when to our playground and started our search for those worms! Luckily, we found many and brought them in to learn about them.
And, of course, we all love our Tuesdays with the "Tumble Bus."
