It's been a really exciting and busy week in Class Bet.
Pre-literacy Skills:
Tracing letters with shaving cream and paint.
Crystal art :
After a science experiment in which we poured different dry ingredients onto blocks of ice in order to see what would happen to the ice. We Noticed how salt helps ice melt the fastest. We discussed that when the streets are covered in ice, it gets very slippery; and therefore, people use salt to melt the ice in order to keep the friends safe.
As a follow-up activity, we added salt to our paint and created a beautiful textured salt art.
Come see our beautiful art hanging in our classroom.
We looked at pictures of winter in the city and winter in the mountains. We then documented our observations, and wrote down the differences we see. Next, the children used a variety of white and blue art mediums to create our winter scenes for our walls.
Snowflakes matching:
Matching Mittens
Fine motor skills:
Lacing winter mittens.
Charlie taking great care of his "baby"
Geffen : "I'm pregnant"
Book response:
In the book " No Two Alike", by Kieth Baker we read how all snowflakes are different. Each snowflake is different, and each child's is special and unique.
As a follow up activity the friends created their own beautiful snowflake. We compared each snowflake, and noticed how each snowflake is different.
Snow scene art:
At our meeting circle, we discussed that sometimes it is cold outside, and we wear warm clothes to keep our body warm. We also talked about how sometimes specific foods make our body feel cold inside too. So we made a list of food that makes us feel cold inside, then we decided to make smoothies with frozen strawberries and blueberries.
In honor of Tu B'shvat, Tania and Roxanne came for a special planting activity.
We discussed that once a year we celebrate the trees and are thankful for the things trees provides us with.
The children decorated flower pots and put soil and parsley seeds.
Thank you so much for coming!!
Last week Shabbat Party, we celebrated with Geffen the birth of her new baby brother.
